Paisley: Indian Cuisine Like No Other
Paisley is an upscale Indian eatery nestled on the corner of Greenwich Street in Tribeca and helmed by Michelin-starred and James Beard-recognized Executive Chef Peter Beck, who pays homage to the food, art, and culture of Northern, Southern, and Eastern India. Paisley has recently opened for outdoor and indoor dining for dinner and weekend brunch.
Some of Paisley’s standout dishes include small plates, such as Lamb Boti marinated in ginger and garlic and grilled in a tandoor, and classic curries like Andhra Chicken with poppy seeds, green chili, cilantro, mint, and spice. Brunch offerings include Masala French Toast, where Beck treats the pao (Indian bread) to a cumin, turmeric, and green chili-spiced custard bath and serves it alongside eggs, onions, tomatos, and home fries; Keema Ghotala, an Indian scotch egg with curried ground lamb; and Calcutta Kathi Rolls, Indian-style wraps served with mint chutney and eggs with choice fillings like paneer, chana palak, and crispy prawns. As exciting as the brunch options at Paisley sounded, I’d have to save that experience for another time as I was tantalized to give their dinner a try and compare it to some other Indian meals I’ve had in the past.
